When It Comes To The Most Horrific, Disgusting Crimes, Such As Murders, Whites Lead The Way

I consider myself "Old School", and I must admit I'm really not into this whole "social media" thing. I mean, yes, over the last few years I have learned to adapt to it, I even set up a facebook page which I mostly use to promote my work, i.e.: my films/videos, articles and columns I write.

But recently, I did something I usually don't do, I found myself in the middle of an all-out, back and forth, heated argument on facebook! Here's what happened...

I came across a link someone had posted about the 15 year old kid in Webster who poured gasoline all over the inside of his home and set it on fire killing his father, two brothers and seriously injuring his mother and sister. Now, those that know me and my work, know that I am no stranger to controversy, and somehow, someway, I always find myself right in the middle of it. That being said, I posted this comment: "Wow! And they talk about us Latinos and African-Americans committing crimes? I'm sorry but the sickest, most disgusting crimes including murders such as this are committed by whites! and in many cases by white suburbanite teens from well to do homes!"

Well, it probably didn't help, that the person who had posted the link was white herself, or that her friends were also all white, because let me tell you, my comment definitely hit a nerve, or better said, hit several nerves! Within seconds, not minutes, there were people posting their comments, and going off on me! And as you probably guessed, there I was, firing right back at them!

You see, as a Latino father of two boys who are half African-American, I am sick and tired of the majority of people always quick to point out how minorities commit crimes. I hate stereotypes, and when it comes to the public's perception of Latinos and African-Americans, I am sick and tired of the negative comments.

Before I knew it I was responding to comments such as "Are you kidding me? Blacks and Latinos are number one when it comes to crimes". And "The darker the skin, the more likely they are to commit a crime". One loser posted "I'd rather encounter a white person at night than a black person as the black person would be more likely to kill me".

And each one of these ignorant people missed the point that my original comment was not my opinion, it's a fact! Yes, minorities do commit crimes, of course! I mean what race doesn't? But I never said they didn't. I stated a fact. When it comes to the most heinous, disturbing, and sickening crimes, including murders, whites win hands down!

We (Latinos and Blacks) may kill each other on these streets, many times as a result of the drug trade, but we generally don't drown our kids in bathtubs like white Texas mom Andrea Yates drowned her five children before calmly calling 911 and alerting the operator to what she had just done.

We don't stab our classmate and the toddler she was babysitting to death like 14 year old Chad Campbell, a white teen, did to Cynthia Lewis and little 17 month old Curtis Rizzo.

We don't kidnap a 4 year old girl as she rode her tricycle, strangle her then stuff her limp body in a coolant tank at our place of employment for several months like Mark Christie, a white security guard, did to Kali Poulton.

We don't take a 4 year old boy from a playground and bash his head in with a boulder, undress him then sexually abuse his dead body like 13 year old Eric Smith, a white teen, did to poor little Derrick Robie.

We don't walk into a Wegmans and hit the frozen food section and stab a girl 8 times in the head and face, including in her eye, like 18 year old Kevin Minemier, a white teen did to a 17 year old girl he was obsessed with.

We don't drive our 1990 Mazda into a lake with our 3 year old and 14 month old sons seatbelted in their car seats, like Susan Smith, a white woman did, before lying to police that a black man carjacked her.

We don't dress up in long black leather trenchcoats and open fire with semiautomatic weapons on our classmates during lunch like white teens Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold did in Columbine, Colorado, killing a total of 12 students and 1 teacher.

We don't rape and murder people, then have sex with their dead bodies before cutting them up into pieces, and storing them in our freezer next to the ice cube trays like Jeffrey Dahmer, a white man, did to 17 innocent victims.

And we don't get a gasoline can, pour gas all over the inside of our homes and set our families on fire like 15 year old Michael Pilato, a white teen, did, killing his father and two brothers and seriously injuring his mother and sister.

We may kill each other over drugs, which interestingly enough, in large part is fueled by the demand from whites who travel from the suburbs and surrounding counties to the inner city to buy drugs, but again, when it comes to the most horrific, sickening, downright unthinkable and unexplainable crimes such as murders, the overwhelming majority of those committing them are whites.
