Hammond, Indiana cop picks up his K-9 partner off the ground with choke hold. |
In October of 2012 I exposed Rochester, NY Police officer Nina Nowak abusing her K-9 parent, kicking the dog in the ribs at a crime scene.
If you or I had done that to a police dog, we'd face some pretty serious charges, including assaulting a police officer.
But yet law enforcement officers mistreat their K-9 partners every day.
Pretty sad, when you consider that these beautiful, loyal animals are sent into the most dangerous situations every day, from chasing down armed criminals, to entering abandoned houses and buildings, not knowing what awaits them inside.
Simply put, these K-9's will, and often give their lives for their human partners.
So it's pretty disgusting when a police officer abuses his or her K-9.

on the right, who was captured on video abusing his K-9 partner.
The video, which was posted on the internet Thursday, shows the officer lifting his partner off the ground by his collar several times, while striking the dog with a leash.
According to Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott, the officer has been placed on administrative leave and the dog has been taken from him.

"When you find out it happened with an employee of yours, it makes it that much more shocking and disturbing."
As for Rochester, NY Police officer Nina Nowak, the video of her kicking her K-9 partner was actually recorded by a local Rochester news station, which was shooting b-roll footage, for background on a news story.
In this incident, of the Hammond cop, a citizen recorded the abuse from an upstairs window of a home.
Had it not been for the power of video, there would be no proof of either incident.
This is why I always tell people... COPS LIE. RECORD EVERYTHING.
The sad thing is, If this officer mistreated his loyal K-9 partner like this, in broad daylight, on a busy street, with people around, what other abuse has he inflicted on this beautiful dog when no one's looking?
