It's not uncommon for police officers to have a side gig.

For example, many police officers moonlight by working security at supermarkets, retail stores, etc.

And that's perfectly fine.

Right?

Ok.

But what about if that police officer works as a part-time jail deputy.

A jail deputy who lied, and falsified business records.

Specifically work time cards.

And what about if that same deputy was arrested be State Police, along with say, 8 other fellow deputies?

And what about if that same deputy just pleaded guilty?

Meet Caledonia, NY Police officer Michael Simpson.

Also known as former Livingston County, NY Sheriff's jail deputy Michael Simpson.

As a Livingston County, NY Sheriff's jail deputy, Caledonia, NY Police officer Michael Simpson lied, taking part in what has come to be known as the "Shift-Swapping Scheme."

In essence, in order to get days off,  full-time Livingston County, NY Jail deputies would pay cash to part-time jail deputies, in exchange for those part-time deputies working their shift for them.

The full-time deputies would fill out their work time sheets, falsely making it appear that they had worked their full shifts, when in reality, they were paying the part-time deputies to work.

As a Livingston County, NY Sheriff's jail deputy, Caledonia, NY Police officer Michael Simpson defrauded taxpayers.

Like I said earlier, It's not uncommon for police officers to have a side gig.

Hey, times are tough, and there are bills to pay.

Only thing is Caledonia, NY Police officer Michael Simpson he used his side gig to lie and commit fraud.

The fact that Michael Simpson is still a Caledonia, NY Police officer is disgusting.

How can he even be trusted?
