McDonald's security guard: "People come here to eat, they don't want to smell someone who hasn't had a shower in a week and a half." |
Does McDonald's discriminate against the homeless?
According to a disturbing video posted to Facebook, which shows what appears to be an armed McDonald's security guard at a downtown Dallas, Texas McDonald's restaurant, harassing a customer who bought a man a meal, it does.
Here's the story.
A Facebook user who goes by the name 'Ced Johnson' went in to the McDonald's restaurant located at 407 N. Lamar St., in downtown Dallas, on July 16, 2014, and buys the African-American homeless man a meal.
As Johnson hands the bag to the homeless man, a security guard who has been standing behind him the entire time, is seen and heard harassing Johnson.
"People come here to eat, they don't want to smell someone who hasn't had a shower in a week and a half," the security guard tells Johnson, adding "They don't have a problem with you buying good, they have to wait outside, we can't have them in here."
"Whose policy is that, yours, or McDonald's?" Johnson asks the security guard.
The security guard replies, "That's the store manager, the regional manager."
At the end of the video, Ced Johnson tells the security guard that he's on camera.
The security guard replies, "I'll say hello to youtube, hi youtube!"

Looks like McDonald's has some explaining to do.
Especially since McDonald's is a franchise restaurant, and therefore any employee, manager, district manager, or owner, is representing the McDonald's Corporation brand.
Interesting.
Interesting.
So McDonald's doesn't mind taking your money if you want to buy a homeless person a meal, so long as they remain outside.
