James Andressi
In yet another example of the extreme disparity that exists when it comes to the way police treat white suspects when compared to black suspects, a Rochester, NY area man escaped being shot and/or killed by police, even though he threw a knife at a Rochester, NY cop.
The man is white.
Which is not surprising, because had he been black or Latino, Rochester Police would have without a doubt pumped him full of lead.
It all started after Rochester, NY Police responded to a call for a robbery in progress at a 7-Eleven store located at 4424 Lake Avenue on May 10, 2016.
When RPD officers arrived at the 7-Eleven, the suspect, who was in the parking lot, ran from officers.
During a brief foot chase, the suspect stopped, turned around, faced police, and then pulled out a knife.
Note: Ok, at this point, had the suspect been black or Latino, they would have been shot, simply for pulling out a knife on police.
The suspect, 27-year old James Andressi, of Irondequoit, NY, then threw the knife at a Rochester, NY Police officer.
Note: Ok, at this point, had the suspect been black or Latino, they'd be dead, for pulling out a knife on police, and then throwing said knife at a Rochester Police officer.
And there you have it.
The great disparity that exists in the amount of restraint that police officers exercise when it comes to using deadly force on a white suspect, versus a minority suspect.
James Andressi was charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer, and resisting arrest.
He's a very lucky man.
For had he been black or Latino, his family would be planning a funeral.
