For years, Rochester, New York's Puerto Rican Festival has been connected to lawlessness, chaos, mayhem and violence.
NOW MURDER.
On Saturday night, July 31st on the second day of the Puerto Rican Festival, multiple shots rang out on Rochester's east side.
One woman is dead and several injured.
This follows a barrage of bullets Friday night, on the first night of the Puerto Rican Festival.
Every year, like clockwork, Rochester, New York Puerto Rican Festival organizers as well as City of Rochester, New York officials, including Mayor Malik Evans are quick to say that the chaos, mayhem, and violence, are not the fault of the Puerto Rican Festival.
Well, here's what I propose...
IT'S ACTUALLY REALLY SIMPLE.
Since the Rochester, New York Puerto Rican Festival organizers can not ensure and can not guarantee that their yearly festival will not bring the chaos, mayhem and violence (NOW MURDER) to Rochester's streets, then it is time City of Rochester, New York Mayor Malik Evans seriously consider permanently shutting down Rochester's Puerto Rican Festival.
Oh it won't be easy.
There will be protests and outrage from Rochester's Puerto Rican community.
But Mayor Malik Evans, like we say in Spanish:
GROW SOME COJONES!!!!!!!!
AND DO IT.
UPDATE: Rochester, New York Police have identified the young girl shot and killed in the chaos, mayhem and violence that accompanies Rochester, New York's Puerto Rican Festival every year as 14-year old Zahnia Barr.

Since speaking out about the Rochester, NY Puerto Rican Festival and the lawlessness, chaos, mayhem and violence that it brings to my hometown every year, I have been made aware of several disgusting comments directed at me and my family, including my Dad Mario Vara, who frankly did more for Rochester's Puerto Rican community, than any so called "Puerto Rican leaders"...
While I am a strong proponent of free speech, I will not hesitate to get law enforcement involved if the line between free speech and threats is crossed.
I will not be intimidated by anyone.
