Mercedes Vazquez Simmons

(Bottom) Shakara Green

SAY THEIR NAMES!
Zahnia Barr.
14.
Shakara Green.
35.
Two young lives lost to senseless violence, connected to the lawlessness, chaos, mayhem and violence that has become synonymous with Rochester, NY's Puerto Rican Festival.
Zahnia was shot on North Clinton Avenue, or as Rochester's Puerto Rican community so proudly calls, "La Avenida!"
And to be honest, I've never really understood what they're so proud of.
Because in reality "La Avenida!" is a crime and drug infested, run-down ghetto slum street on Rochester's northeast side, littered with boarded up houses and buildings, trap houses, struggling businesses, and other "businesses" that are really nothing more than drug fronts.
Ah yes!
"La Avenida!"
Where heroin addicts discard their dirty used syringes behind churches and in empty lots where houses once stood, and where children now play, among broken liquor bottles and used condoms.
"La Avenida!"
Where junkies high on K2, some barely standing, and others slumped over on the sidewalks, resemble a scene out of The Walking Dead.

NOTE: I want to make it clear that I am in no way making fun of addicts, but at the same time I will not hesitate to call it what it is. My aim is to expose the fact that politicians don't truly care about the real issues affecting my hometown. With that said, I WILL NOT sugar coat anything or look the other way as politicians do. As the header underneath The Davy V. Blog up top says: RAW AND UNFILTERED... EXPOSING WHAT MANY WANT SWEPT UNDER THE RUG...

North Clinton Ave. "La Avenida"
According to Rochester Police, someone fired shots into a crowd that had gathered after the Puerto Rican Festival.
And as everyone scattered like roaches when you turn the lights on, young Zahnia lay dead on the ground.
Police say she was shot in the upper body.
Some say she was shot in the head.
Shakara was shot on Clifford Avenue and North Street.
She was also in a crowd, watching cars drive by, and people waving Puerto Rican flags.
Rochester Police say she was shot in the neck, and just like Zahnia, Shakara was also pronounced dead on the scene.

Video screenshots shows suspect holding a firearm firing several shots as woman holding Puerto Rican flag runs for cover.
As I'm writing this, both murders remain unsolved, despite the fact that at least in Shakara's murder, there's a video of the killer.
That's right.
A video taken by someone who was live-streaming, shows a dark colored sedan driving on Clifford Avenue.
In the video you can see an individual appearing to be standing out of the car's sunroof, holding a firearm and shooting several shots.
And you can clearly tell that the individual is light skinned.
Possibly Latino.
I have covered both Zahnia and Shakara's murders from the time they happened, both here on The Davy V. Blog, as well as on my YouTube channel DavyVTV.
And I have called out Rochester New York's Puerto Rican community, asking if they are protecting the killers.
I strongly believe they are.
Somebody knows something.
And it disgusts me that the killers are roaming the streets free.
As a Latino myself (Cuban-American), I find it both extremely disgusting as well as disturbing that Latinos in my own hometown are protecting killers.
Again, someone knows something.

Mercedes Vazquez Simmons
Something else that disgusts me about the completely senseless taking of these two young lives, is the silence of Rochester, New York's so-called "Puerto Rican leaders.".
Take for example Mercedes Vazquez Simmons.
A failed Puerto Rican boxing promoter, (Pretty Girl Promotions) turned Monroe County, New York Legislator, who you can currently see on Facebook pandering for votes, as she is running for New York State Assembly.
Mercedes Vazquez Simmons is exactly the sort of politician that my father, the late Mario Vara, a community activist in Rochester New York, despised.
You know the type.
We have all seen them.
They are nowhere to be found, seen, or heard, except right around election time, when they magically appear as they crawl out from under their rocks, begging for your votes.
Mercedes Vazquez Simmons has no problem getting in front of cameras when it benefits her.
But she has refused to denounce the serious issues within her own Puerto Rican culture, and within her own Puerto Rican community in Rochester, New York.
I want to be clear.
Mercedes Vazquez Simmons has refused to denounce and condemn the lawlessness, chaos, mayhem, and violence that accompanies the Rochester, New York, Puerto Rican festival every year.
Simply put, Mercedes Vazquez Simmons is playing it safe.
One, because she doesn't care.
Two, because she knows she would lose votes if she even as much as questioned Rochester's Puerto Rican community and their self entitled, above the law behavior.
Being Puerto Rican herself, Mercedes Vazquez Simmons has instead chosen to cower, and look the other way instead of denouncing the senseless murders of Zahnia Barr and Shakara Green.
And this is the woman who is asking voters to put her in the New York State Assembly.
And sadly, uneducated, naive and gullible Latino voters will do just that.
Absolutely disgusting.
But Mercedes Vazquez Simmons is not the only one who has remained silent.
Mercedes Vazquez Simmons is not the only one who is nowhere to be found, seen, or heard.
Mercedes Vazquez Simmons is not the only one who has refused to denounce the murders of Zahnia Barr and Shakara Green.
BLACK LIVES MATTER, who has absolutely no problem whatsoever protesting, yelling, screaming, shutting down, highways, shutting down stores, and attacking whoever even dares to call out their hypocrisies and double standards, has also refused to denounce Zahnia and Shakara's murders.
Like I've said for years, it's no surprise really, when you consider that as far as the BLACK LIVES MATTER "movement " (SCAM), is concerned, BLACK LIVES only matter when it's a white cop killing a black youth.
Then there's outrage.
Then there are protests.
As there should be.
But where is that same energy, and where are those same protests, and where is that same outrage when minorities are killing each other?
NOWHERE.
BLACK LIVES MATTER is M.I.A.
It's truly disgusting.
