On Tuesday January 29, 2013, Rochester, NY Police officers Antonio Gonzalez and James Ott accompanied a court marshal to evict Timothy Powell from his downtown Rochester apartment.
Within minutes, Powell was shot by the officers.
Rochester Police claim that Powell was armed with both a bottle containing bleach and a knife, even though RPD public information officer Justin Collins made NO mention of a knife at a press conference.
In fact, it wasn't until several hours later that Rochester Police came up with their knife story.
On Tuesday February 5, 2013 Timothy Powell's family drove from Washington, DC to attend a press conference I held in my office denouncing not only the Rochester Police department's lies and cover-ups, but I also pointed out RPD officers Antonio Gonzalez and James Ott's history of misconduct.
Afterwards, the family was prevented from seeing their loved one, who remains handcuffed to a hospital bed in the ICU unit at Strong Memorial Hospital.
At the press conference, ALL of the media outlets who came, completely ignored and cut out points I made regarding the history of RPD officers Antonio Gonzalez and James Ott, and intentionally left them out of their newscasts.
Among the points I brought up at the press conference:
On June 21, 2012, Rochester, NY Police officer Antonio Gonzalez, was one of 7 officers who opened fire on Israel 'Izzy' Andino, a mentally-ill young man, on his 20th birthday.
Andino was holding a BB rifle and despite RPD officers having several opportunities to subdue him without using deadly force, Gonzalez and 6 officers all shot Andino in unison, in what was described by neighbors as a firing squad execution.
Andino was hit at least 11 times.
Bullets also hit several houses where young children were sleeping.
Other bullets penetrated vehicles parked in a driveway.
Andino's body was left uncovered on the sidewalk for hours, while several RPD officers joked about the shooting.
In 2009, Rochester, NY Police officer Antonio Gonzalez made a video which he posted on he Internet titled "Name that Crackhead!", in which Gonzalez along with other RPD officers make fun of a mentally ill man who is seen on the video dressed in a martial arts uniform.
At one point in the video, RPD officers are heard singing the song "Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting", as the man performs some martial arts moves.
Later, after Gonzalez posted the "Name that Crackhead!" video on the internet, Rochester, NY Police officers Josue Traverzo and Luis Hernandez, posted comments as to the man's whereabouts.
One comment, left by RPD officer Josue Traverzo reads: "Hint, can find him at 580 Jeff," referring to Jefferson Ave., on Rochester's west side.
As for RPD officer James Ott, he is named in a Federal Civil Rights lawsuit in an incident where he brutalized an African-American woman being evicted from her Appleton St. home.
In July 2011, Officer Ott assaulted Henry, slamming her to the ground.
Henry was taken away in ambulance after losing consciousness.
ALL the news media outlets that attended my press conference, WROC TV 8, News 10 NBC, 13 WHAM TV , and YNN News intentionally edited out those points, and, in their well known M.O. of 'not biting the hand that feeds them', only reported what they wanted.
In fact, despite me sending out several press releases to David Andreatta, a reporter with the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper, neither he, or anyone from the D&C showed up to the press conference.

Twitter messages between D&C Newspaper reporters David Andreatta and Gary Craig seem to suggest that Andreatta knows and has information that the Rochester, NY Police department is lying.
It all seems to have started when Gary Craig sent this tweet: "Ok, in RPD shooting incident, there is now a report of a knife as well as bleach. Not sure why that couldn't be said by police yesterday."
Then, David Andreatta replies to Craig with this tweet: "@gcraig1 Yes, this is false. The man was armed with bleach. He allegedly threw bleach at officers."
"False"?
Does David Andreatta have information that
Rochester, NY Police department is lying?

On Tuesday, Gonzalez and officer James Ott shot Timothy Powell, when at first they said Powell was armed with a bottle of bleach.
Since the incident, in order to spin their story and justify shooting Powell, Rochester, NY Police Chief James Sheppard now says Powell also had a knife, something the RPD had made NO mention of.
Rochester, NY Police officers had accompanied
Court Marshal Joseph Polizzi to evict Powell from a Volunteers of America housing complex.
Powell was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Rochester, NY Police officer Antonio Gonzalez has a history of being a trigger-happy cop.
He also has a history of showing he has a problem dealing with the mentally ill.
