Despite Rochester, NY Being Ranked The 5th Poorest City in U.S., Mayor Lovely Warren Is Too Busy Rappelling Down 21-Story Buildings, and Taking Out of State Trips to Care About Rochester's Poor (VIDEO)

The child poverty rate in the U.S. is 20 percent.

That means that across the U.S., 1 out of every 5 children under the age of 18 lives in poverty.

In Rochester, NY, the child poverty rate is 46 percent.

More than twice the national average.

Which is why it's no surprise that Rochester, NY was recently ranked the 5th poorest city in the U.S.

Every day, thousands of low-income families, with young children, a strong concentration of which are African-American and Latinos, and many of them single parent homes, struggle to put food on the table.

For many young children in Rochester, NY, dinner consists of a pack of high sodium, Ramen noodle soup.

Many children don't even get that, and go to bed hungry, crying themselves to sleep.

So why is Rochester, NY Mayor Lovely Warren staging media publicity stunts like she did last Friday, in the city's downtown corporate business district, when she rapelled down 21-stories of the First Federal building, not to raise money or awareness for Rochester's poor, but instead for Boyscouts?

With Rochester's brown nosing, Corporate-America LAMESTREAM news media camped out on East Main Street, along with Rochester deputy Mayor Leonard Redon, who was recently arrested for DWI, driving drunk with a BAC level of .13, almost twice the legal limit, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren descended down the tinted glass facade of the building once known for its flying saucer looking rotating top floor which featured the popular 'Changing Scenes' restaurant.

Now here's my thing.

I have no problem with supporting local Boy Scout troops.

But my point is that if Lovely Warren, who city officials say donated an undisclosed amount of money, in order to rappel down the building, really cared about the plight of the inner city poor and homeless in her own hometown, I can think of a number of different ways that she could have brought real attention to the real issues.

Child poverty and homelessness in Rochester, NY.

But instead, Lovely Warren would rather play Spider-Man, climbing down 21-floors for Boy Scouts.

Poor children be damned.

Since taking office, Rochester, NY Mayor Lovely Warren has been more concerned about traveling more than staying in Rochester and fix the real issues the city bus facing such as the poverty and education crisis.

Last year, on,y 43 percent of high school seniors graduated, and less than 10 percent of those graduates were ready for college.

Yet, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is once again racking up frequent flyer miles as she just announced she will be traveling to sunny Florida to take part in a national summit on education reform.

Warren will be a panelist on thev American Federation of Children’s Policy Summit in Kissimmee, Florida, a two-day summit which will bring together leaders from across the U.S. to talk about the successes and challenges of education opportunities in their communities.

Really?

Here Mayor Warren, let me put it in big bold capital letters.

AT $140,000 A YEAR, YOU'RE ONE OF THE HIGHEST PAID MAYORS IN NEW YORK STATE, AND THE U.S.

YET...

YOUR CITY WAS JUST RANKED THE 5TH POOREST IN THE U,S..

THE CHILD POVERTY LEVEL IN YOUR CITY IS MORE THAN DOUBLE THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

THE GRADUATION RATE IN YOUR CITY IS ONE OF THE WORST IN THE COUNTRY.

YET ONCE AGAIN, YOU'RE BOARDING A PLANE, THIS TIME HEADING FOR THE SUNSHINE STATE TO TALK ABOUT SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES?

MAYOR WARREN, YOUR CITY DOESN'T NEED YOU 1,200 MILES AWAY AT SOME SUMMIT EMBARASSING YOURSELF.

AND YOUR CITY DOESN'T NEED YOU SCALING DOWN BUILDINGS.

YOU'RE NOT SPIDER-MAN MAYOR WARREN.

YOU'RE THE MAYOR OF THE 5TH POOREST CITY IN THE U.S,

AND YOUR CITY NEEDS YOU IN ROCHESTER ADDRESSING THE CRISIS YOU HAVE ON YOUR HANDS.

Check out the video below, and pay close attention to the classic, politician spin that Rochester, NY Mayor Lovely Warren tries to put on my questions to her.

Simply put, Rochester, NY Mayor Lovely Warren is a joke.

After all, it's hard to take a woman serious when she looks more more like one of the Village People, than a mayor, standing in the middle of a bird and a moose.

NOTE: An interesting thing happened as I made my way to Rochester, NY Mayor Lovely Warren's press conference after she completed her 21-floor rappel.

First, a City of Rochester official who would only give me his first name, 'Donald', lied to me when I asked him if Mayor Warren was still doing the press conference.

"No she's not," he said.

The second video below shows an exchange I had with 'Donald' regarding his lying to me.

I recorded most of the exchange, in which I ask 'Donald' if he had received any orders form Mayor Lovely Warren's camp, that I not allowed entrance to the press conference, something which both City of Rochester, and Rochester, NY Police department officials.

Then, after my exchange with 'Donald', City of Rochester Media Editor Patrick Flanigan, a former a Rochester Democrat and Chronicle newspaper reporter, asked me what questions was I going to ask Mayor Warren.

Flanagan's job is to 'prep' the mayor, so she won't get caught off guard at a press conference.

"Did you come to rain on the parade?", Flanigan asked me as soon as I entered the room.

Patrick Flanagan refused to give me 'Donald's' last name.

Several calls to Rochester City Hall, asking for Donald's last name were never returned.
