A Niagara Falls, NY police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is police speak for a paid vacation, after he shot a 33-year old man in the abdomen during a drug raid Wednesday night around 8:14 pm at 488 20th Street near Ferry Street.

The victim whose name has not been released is listed in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center.

Niagara Falls, NY Police Superintendent Bryan Dalporto.

"They encountered some resistance from the suspect inside the house. There was also some movement inside the house as officers approached the house to execute the search warrant. They made entry into the house. At some point during the entry an officer discharged his weapon, striking the person that was inside of the house," Dalporto said.

According to Niagara Falls Police Superintendent Bryan Dalporto, police found drugs, an assault rifle, and an edged weapon during the raid.

Superintendent Dalporto added that there is a "full investigation" underway.

Interesting.

As opposed to a "partial investigation"?

I will be updating this piece.
