Rochester, NY Mainstream News Media Sinks to New Low After Posting Photo of Dead Deer

Car that hit deer in Erie County, NY

By Davy V.

What do you do when you're a small television news station struggling for ratings in an overlooked market?

You post photos of innocent dead animals.

In yet another example of just how low mainstream news media has sunk, a news reporter in Rochester, NY,  posted a photo of a dead deer on her twitter account, for shock value.

Jennifer Mobilia, a reporter for Rochester's NBC affiliate, News10 NBC, posted the split screen style photo on her Twitter.

One side of the split screen photo (above) shows the car that hit the deer.

The other side shows the deer's lifeless body slumped in the passenger seat of the car, after it came through the car's windshield.

The driver of the car suffered only minor scrapes.

I have decided not to publish the photo of the dead deer here on my blog.

Unlike Mobilia, I don't need to exploit a photo of a helpless animal to get views.

As you can see by the views counter to the right, my blog is doing just fine.

The accident happened Tuesday on Route 219, in Erie County, NY.

While many, including myself, found the photo very disturbing and in poor taste, others wasted no time in posting jokes on social media.

Paul Bater posted the following comment on News10 NBC's website.

"More convenient than Wegmans... Meat delivered to the front seat. Thankful no one was killed."
