We all know to take precautions when it comes to protecting our identities.
But just how safe is your personal, private information once it's in the hands of public officials?
Take, for example, a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles official who left their briefcase open in an official vehicle while doing a little shopping at Marketplace Mall, Wednesday afternoon in Henrietta, NY, a suburb of Rochester, and as a result left documents in plain sight, compromising personal, private information.
Calls to Monroe County, NY Clerk Adam Bello and New York State Department of Motor Vehicles were not returned.
