A photo posted on social media Thursday afternoon shows just how dangerous, and powerful wind storms can be.

The photo above is of a Monroe County, NY Sheriff's cruiser after a tree fell on it on Manitou Rd. Wednesday.

Thankfully, the Deputy did not suffer serious injuries, just a bump on her head.

Rochester, NY and the Monroe County region were hit by a record wind storm Wednesday evening which lasted well into the early morning hours Thursday.

Wind speeds at the Greater Rochester International Airport reached 81 miles per hour, snapping utility poles and tree limbs, uprooting trees, and even overturning RV and tractor trailers, throughout Monroe County.

Some trees, as you can see in the photo below, destroyed houses.

This home on Stone Rd. in Greece, NY was completely destroyed after a tree fell on it.

The towns of Greece and Irondequoit were hit the worst, with both declaring state of emergencies.

As of Thursday morning, at least 140,000 remained without power, making it the largest power outage in the Rochester area in the last 14 years.
