As The Rochester, NY Police Department Mourns The Loss of One of Their Own, Let's Remember Those Killed by Trigger-Happy RPD Cops

As the Rochester, NY Police department mourns the loss of one of their own, let's remember those whose lives were cut short by trigger-happy Rochester, NY cops.

And as the Rochester Police brotherhood, family and friends of Rochester, NY Police officer Daryl Pierson drown in the tears and pain of losing their brother, let them realize that the families of the innocent victims below, have endured that same pain, that they are now feeling, for years.




"UNIDENTIFIED NEGROE MOTORIST" 

That's  how the Rochester, NY Police department described an African-American man who was shot and killed by a Rochester, NY Police officer on July 25, 1967.



RONALD FRAZIER, 19

Shot and killed in 1975 by Rochester, NY Police officer James Soles.

Frazier's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Soles was cleared of any wrongdoing.



DENISE HAWKINS,18

Shot and killed on November 11, 1975, by Rochester, NY Police officer Michael Leach, while running away from her abusive husband.

Leach would later shoot his son in the back after a night of drinking, killing him.

Leach received only 6 months in jail.

Hawkins' killing was found to be justified, and  RPD officer Leach was cleared of any wrongdoing.



ALECIA MCCULLER, 21

Shot and killed on November 13, 1983, by Rochester, NY Police officer Thomas L. Whitmore.

Whitmore shot McCuller, and as she lay on the ground dying, officer Whitmore shot her a second time.

McCuller's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Whitmore was cleared of any wrongdoing.



KENNETH JACKSON, 25

Shot and killed on November 16, 1984 by Rochester, NY Police officer Ceferino Gonzalez.

Jackson's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Gonzalez was cleared of any wrongdoing.



LOUIS DAVILA, 17

Shot and killed by Rochester, NY Police officer Carlos Perez on September 30, 1985.

Davila's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Perez was cleared of any wrongdoing.



CALVIN GREENE, 30

Mentally-ill father, shot 5 times and killed by Rochester, NY Police officer Gary E. Smith on June 7, 1988, while hiding, unarmed in a crawl space.

Greene's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Smith was cleared of any wrongdoing.



VANDRE "VANDY" DAVIS, 21

Young father shot and killed by Rochester, NY Police officer David Gebhardt, while sitting on a couch.

RPD officer Gebhardt, who shot Davis in his chest with his department issued shotgun, claimed he tripped on an extension cord on the floor, causing him to discharge his shotgun.

Davis' killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Gebhardt was cleared of any wrongdoing.



CRAIG HEARD, 14

Shot twice in the head and killed by Rochester, NY Police officers Serge Savitcheff and Hector Padgham.

Heard, an honor roll student was unarmed.


Heard's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officers Savitcheff and Padgham were cleared of any wrongdoing.



WILLIE CARTER, 46 

August 15, 2002

Carter's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer was cleared of any wrongdoing.



PATRICIA THOMPSON, 54

Mentally-ill woman, shot and killed by Rochester, NY Police officer Jeff Lafave on March 2, 2006


Thompson's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Lafave was cleared of any wrongdoing.



HAYDEN BLACKMAN, 43

Shot and killed by Rochester, NY Polocr officer Randy Book on October 13, 2013 in front of his wife and stepchildren.

Blackman's killing was found to be justified, and RPD officer Book was cleared of any wrongdoing.



ISRAEL "IZZY" ANDINO, 20

Mentally-ill young man executed by 7 Rochester, NY Police officers on his 20th birthday.

Shot 11 times by Rochester, NY Police Sgt. Aaron Colletti, Sgt. Mike Nicholls, officers Antonio Gonzalez, Brian Cala, Greg Karnes, Onasis Socol, and Eluid Rodriguez, in what witnesses described as a modern day firing squad.

As Izzy's cold, dead body lay on a blood soaked sidewalk, uncovered for almost 8 hours, while Rochester Police officers cracked jokes, as they repeatedly stepped over his corpse.

Andino's killing was found to be justified, and all RPD officers were cleared of any wrongdoing.
