Woman Says Two Monroe County, NY Sheriffs Deputies Raped Her Inside Puerto Rico Hotel

According to the Puerto Rican newspaper, El Nuevo Dia, two Monroe County, NY Sheriff's Jail deputies are being questioned in a rape investigation.

The deputies, whose names have not been released, were allegedly in Puerto Rico on official duty, when they met an Orlando, Florida woman, who was vacationing in the island.

El Nuevo Dia newspaper is reporting that the Monroe County Sheriff's deputies were staying at the luxurious hotel Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

That's where the woman, who was staying at the same hotel, alleges that the deputies raped her.

The alleged rape is said to have occurred late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Sgt. Luis Cruz, Director of San Juan Police Department of Sexual Crimes and Mistreatment of Minors, told El Nuevo Dia that the Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies were disarmed and taken into custody for questioning.

Sgt. Cruz also said that DNA was taken from the deputies to compare to DNA found at the scene of the rape.

UPDATE:

The two Monroe County, NY Sheriff's deputies who an Orlando, Florida woman said raped her inside a San Juan, Puerto Rico hotel, are reportedly back in Rochester, NY after being detained and questioned by Puerto Rican authorities.

According to Monroe County Sherrif's Office Corporal John Helfer, an internal investigation will be launched.

In other words, the Monroe County, NY Sheriff's Office will be investigating themselves.
